A description follows of the new subject material and assessment process introduced to an Advanced Machining & NC Programming course for the purpose of improving its manufacturing industry content, thereby meeting our accredited Mechanical Engineering Technology program learner outcomes. The new outcomes introduced to the course include the following concepts: 1. Quality and Statistical Process Control, 2. Teamwork, 3. Economics and Cycle Times, 4. Work Flow and Flexible Manufacturing, and 5. Integrated Design and Manufacturing. This new subject material was assessed by three means: 1. Team performance, 2. Project success and 3. Student post-course evaluations. These outcomes are also discussed in their relationship to criteria put forth in the proposed ABET/TAC 2004-2005 Criteria for Accrediting Engineering Technology Programs.
