摘要

Mixing of analytes and reagents is a critical and difficult step in lab-on-a-chip applications. This paper presents a hybrid approach for mixing two laminar aqueous streams in a microchannel. It consists of patterned geometric features and electrokinetic actuation along the channel for improved mixing performance. The mixer can potentially mix reagents in a fluid medium from deionized water to electrically conductive fluids f0.2 S vrT1) with low voltage supplies (3.5 Vrms). The mixing capacity of this hybrid microfluidic mixer is characterized and compared with that of the separate passive and electrokinetic actuations.
