A SINGULAR-VALUE DECOMPOSITION METHOD FOR UPDATING THE ANALYTICAL MODEL

Based on the theory of singular-value decomposition andthe matrix approximation technique, an analytical modelupdating method using the identified model parameters isdeveloped. Firstly, The identified modal matrix is decomposedby means of singular-value decomposition technique. Thegeneral updating equations for the analytical model are obtainedaccording to the decomposition results, the eigenequation ofthe system, and the modal orthogonality relations. Secondly, thebest matrix approximation solution for the updating equations isdefinited. The existence and uniqueness of the bestapproximation relative to the analytical model are studied. Theconcrete form of the best modification and two algorithms arepresented. Examples demonstrate that the analytical modelmodification method developed in this paper possesses highmodificatory accuracy comparing with some other methods.The method possesses the ability to modify the large errormodels.
