This paper strives to the physical basis and mechanism of the electromagnetic phenomena occurring in a soft-contact electromagnetic continuous casting mold. The equivalent circuit model describing these phenomena is derived based on the extensive investigation of the physical basis of the phenomena occurring in a soft-contact electromagnetic continuous mold; The relationship of the rated value of the power supply and circuit parameters with the media parameters of the mold is set up from the scatting equation of the electromagnetic waves; And final the physical characteristics of the electromagnetic forces acting on the molten metal is revealed.
