摘要

Composite polymer particles consisting of polystyrene (PS) and poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) were produced by emulsifier-free seeded emulsion polymerization of styrene with PHEMA seed particles. It was acknowledged by XPS analysis that PHEMA which is more hydrophilic than PS was preferentially localized at the particle surfaces and heterogeneous surface structure was formed. The composite polymer particles were useful as a carrier for their biomedical applications.
