Soil shear strength under vertical loading in the triaxial test is influenced by many factors such as degree of saturation (B coefficient), type and amount of clay mineral in soils and the conducted test methods. Several triaxial test techniques for measuring shear strength of unsaturated soil were proposed by former researcher to test unsaturated loose silt using a consolidated drained test.This study is to determine degree of saturation effect on the shear strength of expansive soil in Karawang, West Java, Indonesia, using soil sample with diameter of 35 mm and height of 70 mm is taken from core drill of soil compacted in the mold and prepared under the procedures according to ASTM Standard. The soil sample was then placed in at the Triaxial Test and loaded under Consolidated Undrained condition.
