NUMERICAL SIMULATION ON DIFFUSION OF DUMPED-MUD DREDGED FROM HANGZHOU BAY

In the present study, the factors influencing the diffusion of dredged sediment are briefly analyzed. In near field, unsteady density flow is the main diffusion mechanism with a short duration. Depositing, convection diffusion and turbulent diffusion are main types of sediment movement, and turbulent diffusion has the same magnitude with convection diffusion; however, in far field, convection diffusion is the main form, having one magnitude larger than that of turbulent diffusion. Aimed at the characteristics of dredged sediment diffusing, a numerical model is established for diffusion of dumped mud with non-uniform sediment. For an example, the diffusion of dredged sediment from dug chamfers in the east and the west of the Hangzhou Bay is studied. The near field diffusion concentration ground is generalized, the diffusion process of dumped sediment is simulated, as well as the diffusion of sediment in the near field is researched and discussed.
