Recently, the structure of the modern eddy current inspection devices for steam generators of pressurized-water-reactor atomic power plants has become very complex. Thus, to investigate the possible aspects of .these modern probes requires full 3D computer simulation. We have been developing such a special-purpose 3D electromagnetic computer simulator in ECT project supported by MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry). Our goal is to be able to predict probe signals of absolute and differential coil arrangements in both impedance and transmitter-receiver probes that may include ferrite-cored coils as well. Further, we want to calculate probe signals due to both artificial and natural flaws located in any tube zones.
