A series of polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers from 0.5 generation to 3.5 generation were synthesized via divergent method using ethylenediamine and methyl acrylate as raw materials by means of Michael addition reaction and amidation reaction. PAMAM was characterized with FTIR and ~1H NMR. Carboxyl-terminated PAMAM (PAMAM-COOH) was prepared by hydrolyzation of 0.5 generation PAMAM in acid condition. According to the results of colloid charge titration, PAMAM-COOH had amphoteric structure and its water-solubility did not depend on the pH value of the solution. UV-Vis, potentiometer and turbidimetric titration were used to investigate the complexation between PAMAM-COOH and chrome salt. The results indicated that PAMAM-COOH could interact with chrome salt to form metallodendrimer with good alkali-resistant ability. The structure of metallodendrimer was theoretically simulated.
