摘要

The forest dynamics succession research is one of an important issue for plant ecology researches, how to monitor the forest dynamics is continue been discussed. This study used multi-temporal SPOT images (1992 and 2001) as materials, and technique of image subtraction by normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) was performed to monitor the forest dynamics on Nanjen Mountain Ecological Reserve (NMER) in Taiwan. The result showed that the plant biomass was still increase since the ecological reserve had been instituted. For the sake of detect the influence of northeast monsoon on vegetation in NMER, the 3 terrain regions of windward, leeward and valley were derived from digital elevation model and river data, geographic information system overlay techniques and change index of vegetation were used in the analysis process, and the result showed that the vegetation dynamics change at valley was the highest; leeward was middle and windward was the lowest.
