摘要

Iron-arene complex as a new type of photoinitiator for photo-induced cationic polymerization was first introduced by researchers in Ciba-Geigy in the mid 80's. It features longer wavelength absorption at near UV and visible region (385 and 450 nm). But the initiation efficiency is not high enough and post-irradiation thermal treatment is generally required for the thorough cure of epoxy resins. Little has been reported in the literature on the polymerization characteristics by using this kind of photoinitiators. This paper reports the absorption and emission spectra of this complex and the unique features in initiating the photopolymerization of epoxides.
