Steam reforming of natural gas is the most efficient and widely used processes for the production of hydrogen. However the total CO_2 emissions from steam reforming process reach up to 0.3-0.4 □ CO_2 per each □ hydrogen produced. To produce hydrogen without CO_2 emissions, thermal decomposition of methane is studied .Natural gas can be thermally decomposed to carbon and hydrogen. The carbon can be sequestered or sold as a materials commodity. Thus hydrogen can be produced from natural gas cleanly without the productions of CO_2. To produce CO_2-free hydrogen, we investigate the feasibility of using fluidized bed as the thermocatalytic reactor of methane and examine the reaction characteristics under different operating conditions.
