摘要

The preparation, characterization and application of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have "attracted much attention in fundamental and applied sciences. Of particular interest in catalysis is the potential use of CNTs as a support for metal catalysts. Many transition metals are active catalysts for synthesis as well as decomposition of ammonia. Hydrogen production based on catalytic ammonia decomposition is advantageous in fuel cell application because it produces no CO to deteriorate the electrodes. Supported Ru has been known to be catalytically very active in ammonia decomposition; it has been reported that its performance is greatly affected by the nature and structure of the support. Here, we present Ru/CNTs as a catalyst for hydrogen generation from ammonia with comparison to Ru catalysts supported on activated carbon (AC), MgO, Al_2O_3, and TiO_2.
