MEASUREMENTS OF MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYURETHANE-BASED SYNTHETIC ENAMEL PAINT AND RED OXIDE PRIMER COATINGS

The use of paints and primers as protective layer depends on the substrates and the physical conditions of environment and surroundings. Various measurements of paint and primer combinations, either individually or coated on metallic substrates were taken. The results of these measurements like modulus of elasticity, Poisson's ratio, strain energy, etc. can open a new horizon in the coating technology. It is envisaged that the different values of induced stresses, developed due to differential loadings, can be used as a tool for the prediction of deflection and consequent failure.
