摘要

Motion estimation have become more and more important,spcially for low bit-rate coding.Several successful displacement estimation algorithms had been presented,but they only suit to slow movement.This paper presents a new algorithm of hierarchical displacement estimation.The range of displacements estimated by this algorithm are from three to five times bigger than that by any other algorithms,and it can even estimate displacement of object which move across the whole screen.So it is efficient to estimate displacements of rapid movement.It can reduced greatly calculation and it is simple in hardware implementation.The performance of this algorithm is proved by computer simulations.
