Damage Modelling of Glare under Static and HighStrain Rate Loadings

This paper describes recent progress in material modelling and numerical simulation of Glarernunder static and high strain rate loadings. The present work forms part of the European Unionrnresearch Programme “CRAHVI” undertaken at the University of Limerick, Ireland, which aimsrnto provide material calibrations of Glare for performing simulations of birdstrike againstrnstructures representative of the leading edge of a commuter aircraft. The skin of these structuresrnis made from a metal/composite hybrid material (Glare).
