A spherical array designed for hemispherical coverage of satellite communications at S-band that is approximated by hexagonal and pentagonal planar panels. Ball Aerospace built a segment of a 10m diameter spherical array that has one center pentagonal panel and five surrounding hexagonal panels. This paper describes our efforts at testing one large hexagonal panel in a compact range.
