Along with the development of science and technology, the requirements for steel quality is becoming higher and higher. The most important thing is to have superiorcleanliness in steel. Especially, there is strict restriction on the detrimental element-sulphur in the steel. For some steel grades for special purposes, the sulphur content is even required to be lower than 10 x 10~(-6). Therefore, it has becoome the main stream in the technological development of iron and steel industry to produce steel with low sulphur content and high cleanliness over the world. Many metallurgical people are actively searching for practicable hot metal desulfurization process and desulfurization agents with low cost and high efficiency in order to provide the steel-making furnace with low sulphur level of quality hot metal.
