Novel hydrocolloidal polymers, methyl-cellulose succinate (MC-SA) and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose glutarate(HPMC-GA),were prepared by esterifying MC and HPMC with suc-cinic/glutaric anhydride. The ester formation was confirmed by NMR and FTIR spectros-copy. A zero order aspirin and theophylline release profiles were obtained from MC-SA and HPMC-GA matrix tablets at GI pH values.
