摘要

A major limitation of the buccal route of administration is the lack of dosage form retention at the site of absorption. Consequently, bioadhesive polymers have extensively been employed in buccal drug delivery systems. Typical polymers used as mucoadhesive drug carriers include acrylate and cellulose derivatives. However, Poly (acrylic acid), PAA has some limitations as a mucoadhesive drug carrier including its high water solubility and high glass transition temperature. To overcome these limitations, an interpolymer complex of acrylic acid and poly (vinyl pyrrolodone) PVP was prepared.
