Spatial statistics in geotechnical engineering

Using four varied geotechnical engineering data sets from around Minnesota, the importance of characterizing spatial correlation is emphasized. The semivariogram is introduced to quantify spatial correlation, and the engineering consequences of spatial correlation are investigated.
