The most successful organizations - today and in the future - will be those that have learned to embrace innovation. These enterprises are filled with new ideas, innovative business models and imaginative approaches. They know how to tap the creativity of their entire enterprise and move from idea to implementation, flexibly and with speed. They know that to innovate and manage successfully with rapid change, you must improve the Climate for Innovation in the workplace and provide tools and skills to create and implement breakthroughs. Rapid technological changes, social upheaval, global markets and competition, new economies, investor caution, and increasingly discerning consumers are defining the business norm. Having a track record of success, technical know-how, business savvy, and quality approaches no longer guarantee success. Enterprises must also learn how to innovate -faster and at higher levels than ever before. Research has shown that companies that are able to take advantage of market instability by providing radically new types of value to customers are rewarded by the stock market. In hypercompetitive times and in new markets, challenging the existing rules and paradigms creates opportunities to seize the initiative. Unlike job cutbacks, outsourcing, bookkeeping maneuvers, mergers and acquisitions, innovation requires new perspectives. Innovation, like quality, demands attention to systems and processes and requires visionary and committed leadership. This paper describes four key lessons from Innovative organizations. 1.
