On the Shear Bands and Shear Localizations in EHL Films

摘要

The shear localizations, in the form of mechanical shear bands and/or thermally induced inhomogeneous shear, are important phenomena that may develop in liquid lubricant films under high pressure. They can significantly affect lubricant rheological properties such as the limiting shear stress and EHL responses such as the film thickness and traction. Future research of the phenomena both theoretical and experimental may lead to more insightful understanding of thin-film lubrication problems.
