The concentration method for boric acid is described in this paper. An adsorption column containing specific resin was used as the adsorption medium of boric acid. Sample water containing boric acid was flowed into the column, and boric acid was retained on the resin in the column. The percent of adsorption was more than 99 %. After that, hydrochloric acid as eluent was flowed into the column, and a small amount of eluate was collected. Boric acid in the eluant was determined by an azomethine-H colorimetric method. Under the conditions of 0.1 mg as B/l boric acid and 10-times concentration, the recovery for boric acid was 85 %, and the time required to complete the analysis for a single sample was 30 min. The foreign ions which are generally found in fresh waters did not significantly interfere with the determination of boric acid. We applied the present method to fresh water such as Lake Biwa.
