1. Microfiltration media are used in many applications to obtain clean and ultraclean liquids, e.g. in pharmaceutical, drinking water, microelectronic or nuclear industries. 2. Filtering media and filter manufacturers claim ratings measured according to inhouse test methods rarely comparable. 3. A method, very similar to these methods, is under development and has been partly validated on flat sheet media. 4. It will then be validated on various cartridges and later proposed to professionals for adoption as a new European standard to answer requests of large end users of these industrial sectors.
