Wearable electronics made of integrated conductive fibers are relatively new to the economy and has a strong innovative content that can create high value-added opportunities for the development of electrical and electronic devices in which flexibility and conformability are of importance. The conductive fibers, which can be served as electrical conduits capable of carrying data signals and/or power, can be woven into the fabrics and electrical components can be soldered directly onto the fabric. A joint venture between EY Technologies, Inc and US army recently developed a novel process of producing highly conducting micro wires of 25-50 microns. These fibers contain conductive core of 50% or higher and will open up new family of intelligent wearable products with improved user friendliness, affordability, conformability, and comfort.
