When Southwest airlines added Louisville International Airport (SDF) to its system, it quickly became apparent that parking was inadequante at the Airport and three was an urgent need for additional parking. Thus evolved the development of a new 4,300-space multilevel parking s tructure adjacent to the terminal. The project included a new access roadway system, state-of-the-art revenue control system, parking entrance/exity plazas, and operations/security office. Also included were two pedestrian tunnels with moving walkways, new escalators at each tunnel, parallel baggage accessways with provision for baggage conveyors in each tunnel, and the provision for future overhead pedestrian bridges to the ticketing areas of the termainal.
