Waste management system in Poland is under reconstruction. Due to EU directives quantity of waste landfilled should be reduced significantly in closest future. We can observe increase of quantity of waste being incinerated. Along with system reconstruction its environmental impact will change. In some cases results of implementation of EU regulations could have negative impact on the environment. Therefore detailed and reliable studies on the real influence of MSW management systems are needed. Environmental Impact Evaluation is usually difficult. EIE model for problems of waste management system should be based on LCA with introduced displacement credits (DC) and it should include as many parameters as it is possible to make the whole picture clear and reliable. Some details of the future of MSW system and changes of its environmental impact are discusses in the paper. Information about influence on the environment of waste incineration plants in Poland and their capability to accept additional waste stream are quoted.
