摘要

Measurement of the transmission of electromagnetic radiation through a low density carbon phenolic ablative material in the frequency range 8 GHz to 195 THz is reported. Both a virgin and a pre-charred sample have been investigated in several frequency domains. The found transmittances are, if any, very small in the complete range. Only data obtained by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy show a transmission feature of yet unclear origin at around 0.24 THz.
