This paper describes advances made in electroless and electrochemical deposition of Fe-Mn alloys on bare cabornitrided steel substrate from aqueous solution without the use of secondary substrate layers or complexing agents. The object was to produce, by chemical means, Fe-Mn alloy films equivalent or better than Hadfield Steel produced by thermal means.
