Functional simulation and design optimization of the integrated step aside gearbox and intercase concept

This study demonstrates that functional simulation and optimisation of designs at the concept stage by Design Engineers is achievable. In this case Pro/MECHANICA has been successfully applied to facilitate this process.rnThe concept design was developed from a two dimensional scheme, validated and optimised within a two week period. This study was completed while the project was in the concept stage and thus the changes could be accommodated before commitment was made to costly downstream activities such as tooling, detailed design and physical testing.
