In summary, we are describing plans and progress in our development of a novel Photoacoustic Aerosol Light Absorption and Albedo Spectrometer (PALAAS) covering most of the solar spectrum. Initial spectral measurements and our work towards the goal of the simultaneous measurement of aerosol absorption and scattering coefficients in 32 wavelengths bands covering the solar spectral range from 400 to 2000 nm are discussed.
