Definition of conservative design values of the residuals of seismic response parameters of RC frames

A previously proposed probabilistic method is extended, with the appropriate modifications,rnto the definition of conservative design values of the residuals of seismic response parameters of reinforcedrnconcrete frames. These values, characterized by predefined non-exceedance probabilities, are calculated usingrna limited number of generated accelerograms. The method utilizes a value of the response estimate modifiedrnwith an amplification factor defined as a function of the coefficient of variation of the response and of thernpredefined non-exceedance probability. The method is validated with reference to the residual values of thernresponse parameters of four reinforced concrete model frames with different aspect ratios and natural periods,rndesigned according to the EC8 provisions.
