Thin film deposition of PbS is conveniently carried out by chemical reactions of lead acetate with thiourea at room temperature. The 'as-deposited' films were characterized for structural, optical, and morphological properties. The XRD and SEM measurements confirmed that the thin films grown by this technique have good crystalline cubic structures and homogeneous surfaces. The deposited PbS thin film exhibits a blue shift in the UV-Vis and PL spectrum, compared with its bulk materials, indicating the quantum size effect. The Raman spectra of PbS thin film is shown that the bands due to the LO phonons.
