DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES OF NB-RICH POTASSIUM LITHIUM TANTALATE NIOBATE SINGLE CRYSTALS

High quality (K _(0.95)Li_(0.05)(Ta_(1-x)Nb_x)O_3 (KLTN), x=0.44 ~ 0.66, single crystals have been successfully grown by the top-se eded melt growth m ethod. Based on the dielectric property measurements, three phase trans ition temperatures are determined. The Curie tem peratures can be adjusted from 328 K to 478 K with increas ing niobium content in the KLTN compositions. Low dielectric loss values are typically found at near room temperatures. Between heating and cooling runs, a hys teretic temperature-dependent dielectric behavior is noticed in all crys tals measured. The good crystal quality obtained and th e desirable room temperature dielectric properties of the KLTN crystals reported make this family of crystal material highly attractive for further investigations.
