This paper summarizes the development research on NM ground anchor system. NM ground anchor system has been developed for the purpose of the application to slope-stabilization or land-slide prevention. It is an unique feature that NM ground anchor system has two different types of ACM (Advanced Composite Material) CFCC (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composite Cables) in lieu of high tensile strength steel, FFU (Fiber Reinforced Foamed Urethane) in place of precast concrete block.rnPermanent ground anchors currently used have to meet stringent corrosion protection requirements because prestressing steel corrosion hazards experience. Permanent ground anchors have been expected to be the most feasible application field for ACM.rnNM ground anchor system has been jointly developed by The Zenitaka Corp., Kowa Corp., Tokyo Rope Mfg. Co. Ltd. and Sekisui Chemical Co. Ltd. recently in Japan. NM ground anchor system with the use of ACM provides a high strength, high durable and light weight permanent ground anchor system. Furthermore, It is noted that such materials as duplex stainless steel and static crushing agent other than fiber composites are also used. Some innovative devices are applied so that construction procedure is identical with conventional method.rnThe outline of NM ground anchor system is introduced at first, here presented the results of several laboratory tests and a brief description on its first practice in this paper.
