In this work the mechanical behavior of a masonry wall reinforced by sheets of FRP composites is studied. The masonry is regarded as a composite realized by a regular distribution of blocks into a matrix of mortar. Thus, a micromechanical approach is proposed to get the overall properties of the reinforced masonry.rnA simple homogenization technique to determine the behavior of the reinforced masonry which accounts for the progressive damage of the mortar and of the block in the masonry material is proposed. Two different damage criteria, based on an isotropic visco-elastic damage model, are adopted both for the mortar and for the block.rnFinally, numerical applications are developed to study the effects of different reinforcements of the masonry.
