The anchorage capacity for ground anchors using CFRP rods was evaluated. This ground anchor system uses the spirally indented CFRP rods. The items confirmed by tests are the tensile strength of a single rod, the anchorage capacity of grips and tensile strength of a bundle of several rods, the bond strength between rods and cement grout and the transfer mechanism of anchor force in anchor body. The bond strength of rods are confirmed to be in proportion to the indentation on the surface of the rods. The anchorage system consists of a steel sleeve filled with non-shrinking cement mortar to fix the rod ends. The anchorage length of a multi-tendon grip is 80 cm for 9 × 9.8 mm dia. rods. The tensile strength of the bundles of 9 rods are more than 1750 kN. The bond strength tests to various indented rod shapes revealed that its bond strength is higher than that of PC strands. But the residual bond stress is lower than that of PC strands.
