摘要

Advanced composite materials are now being used for the rehabilitation of structures throughout the world. Usually, these composites consist of plastics reinforced with low-cost glass fibres or with high-stiffness carbon fibres. The cost and the properties of aramid reinforced plastic are between glass and carbon. Preliminary tests performed in our laboratory demonstrate that aramid/epoxy composites can confine concrete efficiently. Other tests carried out on square slabs and beams demonstrate the ability of this composite to improve the flexural behaviour of structural concrete elements.
