1. RI, MMAP and DACP are all quantitative measures of tackifier aromaticity or polarity. 2. MMAP is more accurate than DACP but: 1) Harder to run and 2) Uses aniline which is toxic 3. RI is a fundamental property of all compounds 4. RI with M_n can be used to calculate MMAP for C-5/C-9 tackifier resins 5. Resins based on DCPD and terpenes do not fall within the RI/MMAP model for C-5 based resins. 6. But, they may well determine their own linear relationships given enough different points. 7. Based on the limited SBS study, RI defines the viscosity performance for all the resins. 8. RI, M_n and T_g (or SP) can essentially define the compatibility and performance most common tackifiers most hot melt adhesives.
