With the development of society and economy, the Yangtze river is confronted with the serious water issue as flood, drought, water pollution and river ecological environment. As the control water - power engineering, the Three Gorges Project will bring huge advantaged influence on water security for middle and lower Yangtze River. Benefit of Three Gorges Project is realized on follows approach: the unite flood control with reservoirs including Three Gorges Project and the upstream water - power project, combining operation of embankment and store floodwater area, can solve the pre-issue on flood control; serious trend of waterless, water pollution and river ecological environment can be lighten through the utilizable regulation and Emergency regulation; as the strategic reserve water source of the North China area, the Three Gorges reservoir, will supply water to the North China area across the median line of the South-to-North water diversion project, enhances that area's water security* Three Gorges Project may ensure the Yangtze River's Virtual Water trade.
