This paper presents dynamic wind runnel testing using captive flight system. In this system, the airplane model is supported mainly in the perpendicular direction by three lines, one downward from the fuselage and two upward from the wingtips. This experimental method enables one to identify the dynamic characteristics of the airplane. The authors adopted the line-driving method to excite a longitudinal motion. In order to develop this experimental system, it is important to understand dynamic stability and line-driving characteristics of captive flight. In this paper, these two factors are discussed, and the results of the experiment are reported.
