Multi-flexible body models of the International Space Station are used to analyze the control-structure interactions of the flexible structure and active control systems during Guidance, Navigation, and Control operations. The multibody models are constructed from finite element models of individual components or an assembly of components. This paper describes a two-stage Craig-Bampton method to transform and reduce component finite element models to synthesize component models that accurately model the dynamics of the multibody system. Technical challenges encountered in developing flexible component models from large scale finite elements models are discussed. Numerical examples that verify the component modeling approach are presented.
