Management Flight Simulator: A Comparative Analysis

As the world is growing more complex, technological, social and environmental changes are increasing rapidly. Organisations today will face a world that is more dynamic and more uncertain than ever before. So, managers need more tools to help them to learn and monitor their information systems for signs of troubles or opportunities. Computer-based simulations, Microworlds, Management flight simulators can be important tools to support and facilitate learning and to allow users to play a realistic simulated role in management decision making through dealing with complex business interactions. This paper views some of the implications of adopting microworlds which have been used in last few years in research and organisations. It also shows the usage of these simulators in both education and business, the conclusions is that microworlds based on System Dynamics models can be powerful tool to help people who do not themselves have any model building skills, and help decision makers in organisations to increase their ability to navigate and manage change.
