摘要

In the recent years considerable interest has been devoted for developing real time eye tracking in for various applications. The availability of cheaper, faster, more accurate, and easier to use system is an important goal for implementation of eye tracking systems. This paper proposes a technique that does not rely on the use of infrared devices, which is the main and common tool for eye tracking. Instead the proposed system uses web camera as a cheap and common capturing devices. Several for preprocessing technique were evaluated and optimized to detect the position of the eye, independently to the quality of the capture video stream. A number of circle detection techniques were tested and evaluated to select the best-performing one. Different optimization methods were applied to achieve faster real time processing. Three basic operations for controlling applications by eye tracking were implemented, namely, mouse motion, scrolling of windows controls, and location of approximated point of interest on the screen.
