This work investigates the potential of the use of the software EnergyPlus as a tool for making project decisions regarding the windows design through a simplified model that could be easily replicated. At the end of this work, the results obtained are compared with another research and with those obtained with the Quality Technical Regulation for the Level of Energy Efficiency of Residential Buildings (RTQ-R).rnThe simulations show that, among the parameters investigated, the size of the window has the most significant influence on the thermal behavior of the environment, mainly in the cases of East and West directions.rnBy comparing the simulation results with the literature reference and with the RTQ-R, it is found that they are generally mutually compatible. Therefore, it is shown that the EnergyPlus can be a helpful tool to assist in choosing the best design strategies.
