TCP has been used over wireless networks as well as wired networks but suffers from significant degradation of TCP throughput due to fading, shadowing, noise, and so on. To improve TCP disadvantage over wireless networks, it has been suggested that an appropriate error-recovery mechanism at the wired-wireless interface is efficient to hide wireless losses from TCP. This paper analyzes the performance of TCP over wired-wireless networks with Go-back-N ARQ protocol. We consider a discrete-time single-server queueing system with finite buffer and derive the TCP throughput using the empirical knowledge of bandwidth-delay product. Numerical results show how the TCP throughput is affected by the quality variation of the wireless channel and the window size of Go-back-N ARQ.
