Competitive Intelligence for E-business Startups: the Missing Link

The bootcamp experience described in this paper showed that young people can develop technopreneurial skills given the right environment and support. Why not all business plans by the teams were successful in being selected by the panel of judges, a reflection of what one observes in the real world, it managed to demonstrate that such skills as required by the New Economy can be honed and nurtured. Given that these participants have not had any prior training or exposure in developing an original blueprint for an e-business startup, the results showed further that the short immersion regime can be employed for other groups who are ready to embark seriously in technopreneurship. Using eLearning platforms, this bootcamp can be designed to reach communities around the world. Currently, it is available via the Nanyang Business School's web site and a CD-ROM. The author welcomes opportunities to collaborate and share the CI bootcamp concept with global audiences.
