Agent-based simulation, reflexive decision processes and nonlinear dynamics are applied to modeling the social dynamics of terrorist recruitment. These tools are used to conduct virtual field experiments which can be employed to probe the real-world in a perpetual system identification loop with the objective of identifying sufficiently the operable social processes to anticipate events and implement control. This paper illustrates the application of this method through an exploration of the relationship between the diffusion of terrorist sentiment and the development of operative pools—a demanding problem of multi-resolutional constraint evolution.
