摘要

An optical fibre sensing system is investigated for measurement of exhaust emissions from an engine. The sensor relies on measuring absorption of light in the near and mid infra red wavelength region. This allows all of the important gases to be sensed including SO_2, CO, CO_2 and NO_2. A system architecture is proposed which allows these wavelengths to be monitored individually and simultaneously. This paper discusses the component infrastructure to conduct this task, particularly in the mid-infrared region where the most recent developments in sensing fibre and other components have taken place.
